Current status on October 18th, 2020

In the group of BAVARIA TOURERS, questions and opinions have arisen which are discussed based on a variety of discussions from different media. The current situation against the background of the Corona Pandemic confronts us, as organisers of the BAVARIA TOUR 2021, with completely new challenges, which also has an impact on communication with our potential participants. As an organising team we do not have the time to deal with everything individually, but will publish appropriate explanations here as necessary.

We all want the BAVARIA TOUR 2021 to take place, but nobody knows whether it will actually work, and if so, how it can work.
The top priority for the organiser (BMW 02 Club e.V.) is to ensure the safety of all participants.
The possibility of the tour taking place depends on the approval situation for such events in Germany and Austria in May/June 2021.

The situation for the participants

For quite a while it was impossible to predict how many teams we would be able to take along, but when the entry portal came online the number of applicants was once again greater than the number of places. Simply following the chronological "inbox" would not have done justice to the style of the BAVARIA TOUR with a traditionally international audience. At the request of the BMW 02 Club e.V. (as the organiser) we opened the portal early for club members giving them a time advantage in the registration process, and it was difficult for us to handle the sheer number of requests. We therefore temporarily closed the portal several times to gain time for our job of "organising under difficult conditions".

Every applicant for participation has received a receipt of registration, but only those who have been confirmed by us (corresponding to around 90% of the available places) will have received their starting number and a request for a deposit of 30% on the entry fee (and where appropriate 100,-- € on the accommodation costs) for confirmation of entry. It is not without reason that we have combined the entry confirmation with a limited request for payment. This payment means the participant's acceptance.
We can't blame anybody if they don't want to accept for personal reasons and don't pay the deposit. This will free up places, which we will allocate together with the remaining quota of starting places, as soon as possible.

Once again for clarity:
not everyone who has registered will be able to attend. But everyone who has received a starting number and a request for payment can take part in the tour as long as payment is made. There will be no confirmation of receipt of payment. We will contact you if we release the place due to non-payment. Applicants who have not received confirmation of their entry with a start number will remain on a waiting list until further notice.


The situation on the tour

Nobody can say today under which official regulations or conditions the BAVARIA TOUR can take place in June 2021.
We remain optimistic, continue to plan and will face the new situation from spring 2021 onwards.

The traditional concept of the BAVARIA TOUR already meets some conceivable restrictions, i.e. in 2021 we will again be on the road in four groups with approx. 60 CARS OF A NEW CLASS on completely independent routes.
The snack breaks (in the morning and afternoon) will last about 20 minutes and will be attended by about 125 people at a time. They are planned as outdoor breaks with compulsory masks.
The lunch break is attended by approx. 250 people over a period of 180 minutes.
If necessary, we will regulate access to the refreshment points.
In case of unfavourable weather conditions, all locations "can" serve the participants "indoors with social distancing".

 
The situation on Friday

The Friday options will be also be feasible with their own regulatory requirements. We reserve the right to make changes at short notice.

The situation in Oberammergau

The check-in for even/odd start numbers will be carried out at two locations over two days. Aerosol protection is possible if required.
The participants are solely responsible for their personal compliance with any hygiene regulations. Violation of these regulations can lead to exclusion from participation.

The accommodation facilities are subject to the official regulations valid in 2021.
Guests from places designated as risk areas in 2021 will have to consider the official regulations for tourism.

There are two plans for the three evening events (Thu, Fri, Sat), where all 500 people are together, again based on official regulations at that time.
Plan A: Ammergau House without restrictions or social distancing. Plan A is preferred because of the better infrastructure and ambience.
Plan B. An approx. 1400 m² multi-purpose hall in O'gau, which allows for generous distance control for approx. 500 guests with approx. 2.75 m² room/person.
